Amazon Cloud Services Back Up After Major Outage

On Tuesday, Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing division of Amazon.com, experienced a major outage that sent shockwaves through the digital world. Thousands of users were affected as websites and services went down, including the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Boston Globe, Southwest Airlines, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. In a statement, AWS said that the outage was caused by an issue with a subsystem responsible for capacity management for AWS Lambda, a service that allows customers to run computer programs without managing underlying servers.
