Following his emphatic knockout victory against Dustin Poirier at UFC 291, Justin Gaethje found himself in a heated exchange with Conor McGregor. McGregor wasted no time in calling out Gaethje after Poirier’s defeat, but Gaethje responded with a brutal retort, showcasing his confidence after the impressive win.
Gaethje’s redemption was evident as he avenged his past knockout loss to Poirier with a perfectly timed head kick in round two of their intense battle in Salt Lake City.
Unable to resist commenting during major UFC events, McGregor took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to assert his dominance over Gaethje. In his social media post, McGregor declared, “Justin, I’ll show you who’s boss,” and continued, “I’m the real BMF; he can fight for pennies if he wants, but I seek true challenges. I call the shots.”
Gaethje didn’t hold back when asked about McGregor’s remarks during his post-fight press conference. He responded with passion, stating, “I fight MMA. I like to fight big fights, I like exciting things, so it sounds pretty exciting to me. I’m not gonna fight someone on steroids.I want to clarify that I have never used steroids, and I have no intention of ever doing so. Although, perhaps in retirement, it might be a different story. Nonetheless, my stance remains firm—I condemn cheating, and I wouldn’t want to face someone who resorts to such methods. Speaking this truth might affect my chances of a fight with McGregor, but honesty matters to me.
With his dominant performance at UFC 291, Gaethje has solidified his worthiness for the BMF belt, marking a significant achievement in his career. As the feud between Gaethje and McGregor intensifies, MMA fans eagerly await what could be a thrilling showdown between these fierce competitors in the future.
